If you’re reading this, then you’re probably wondering what you should do in Broome? Maybe you just finished or are about to start your tour in the Kimberley or the West Coast, maybe you just decided to spend a few days in Australia’s best getaway.
Broome is a coastal town in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, of approximately 15, 000 people. Not only Broome is famous for the stunning sunset at Cable Beach, it’s also largely known for its pearling industry.

1. CABLE BEACH
Cable Beach gets its name from a telegraph cable laid between Java and Broome in 1889, connecting Australia’s North West with the rest of the world. If you want to spend a few days relaxing far away from big cities while staying close to main facilities, Broome will become your perfect holiday destination. 22km of white sand, turquoise water, red ochre cliffs, sunset view on the Indian ocean… Forget everything else but your drink and enjoy the moment! Sunset over Cable Beach is often considered as one of the most spectacular in Australia. You can choose to make this experience even more special by joining the popular activity of riding a camel along the beach or decide to drive your 4WD on the sand for a picnic.
2. GENTHEAUME POINT
Gantheaume Point is a 10-minute drive west from Broome’s town centre. There’s also the possibility to rent a bike or simply walk along Cable Beach (approx 6km). It was named in 1801 for Honore Joseph Antoine Ganteaume, by Nicolas Baudin, as the French expedition explored the coast.
This place offers a unique landscape made of red rock cliffs, white sandy beach, dolphins swimming in the horizon, a beautiful lighthouse, and 130 million years old dinosaur’s footprint (visible at low tide)!
3. HORIZONTAL FALLS ADVENTURES

Located only 24 km away from Broome, Broome Bird Observatory, is dedicated to the conservation of shorebirds and it’s the largest location in the world with about 150, 000 birds visiting every year.
